I started my career close to the infrastructure itself: physical servers, Linux, virtualisation, storage, networking and hosting.
Over time, that foundation expanded into automation, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code, followed by containers, Kubernetes and Microsoft Azure.
Today, my work focuses primarily on cloud and platform engineering — operating Azure and Kubernetes environments, automating infrastructure with Terraform, implementing GitOps workflows and supporting production systems across multiple layers.
That progression remains one of my strongest technical advantages: understanding both modern platform abstractions and much of the infrastructure beneath them.

Working within the infrastructure/platform function for a multi-environment enterprise platform in the insurance sector, spanning Azure infrastructure, Kubernetes, deployment automation, observability, database infrastructure and production operations.

My current work brings together many of the disciplines developed throughout my earlier infrastructure career: Linux and systems operations, automation, CI/CD, containerisation, databases, monitoring and production support — now applied within an Azure and Kubernetes-based enterprise platform.
My Role — I work jointly with the wider platform team on this environment, with particular ownership of the Azure/Terraform foundation, Kubernetes deployment tooling and observability integrations detailed below.

Outcome — The platform provides a repeatable, multi-environment foundation for application delivery and production operations, with infrastructure, deployment workflows, observability and supporting database services managed through increasingly automated and version-controlled processes.
Context — A web-hosting environment consisting of more than 200 virtual machines and 10 physical systems required centralised monitoring, alerting and long-term performance visibility.
My Role — I designed, implemented and subsequently owned the monitoring platform alongside responsibility for much of the infrastructure being monitored.
Engineering Approach — Prometheus and Node Exporter provided infrastructure metrics, Grafana provided operational dashboards, and Icinga with Slack integration handled alerting and operational notifications. For long-term analysis, I designed an InfluxDB retention model with progressively downsampled datasets across one-, five- and ten-year periods, preserving useful historical trends without retaining full-resolution metrics indefinitely.
Outcome — The resulting platform provided a centralised operational view across the hosting estate while supporting both immediate incident response and long-term infrastructure analysis.
Context — Production infrastructure for a customer-facing Magento platform operated on dedicated CentOS systems. The work covered platform availability, deployments, infrastructure maintenance and observability.
My Role — I was responsible for infrastructure operations and deployments while supporting production stability across the Linux, application and observability layers.
Engineering Approach — Application releases were delivered through Jenkins-based CI/CD onto dedicated CentOS infrastructure. Infrastructure configuration increasingly moved into Puppet and Ansible, while a self-hosted Elastic Stack provided centralised logging and production troubleshooting across the application environment.
Outcome — The environment supported a business-critical customer-facing e-commerce platform, including the successful production transition of a major Magento upgrade in which I held a key technical role.
